My name is Iris Galicia, and I’m a 20-year-old sophomore at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I’m part of the Gies College of Business, where I’m double majoring in Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Marketing, with a minor in Advertising. I chose this path because I enjoy combining creative ideas with strategic thinking, and I want to challenge myself to grow both academically and professionally. Being at UIUC has pushed me to develop new skills, build connections, and better understand the type of leader I want to become.
One of my biggest dreams is to own my own real estate company. I’ve always been drawn to the idea of building something that’s mine and creating spaces that can inspire and serve communities. I know that reaching this goal will take dedication, persistence, and vision, and that’s why I’m committed to using my education and experiences to prepare myself for that future. Every class and opportunity I take on feels like a step closer to turning this dream into reality.
Outside of school and career goals, I enjoy spending time on things that keep me balanced and happy. I love reading romance books for fun, and I’m very much a “girls girl", someone who supports her friends and is always willing to listen. I value being there for people, just as much as I value working hard toward my own goals. I’m excited for what lies ahead and for the chance to keep growing into the best version of myself.
