Imani Larie Dorsey is a contributing writer for the Her Campus chapter at the University of Colorado Boulder. She was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, but has lived in Colorado her whole life. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting.
Outside of her studies, Imani enjoys tennis, makeup, the beach, and spending time with the people she loves most. Her passion for acting stems from her empathetic nature. She found that the emotions that can be evoked by dialect and actions can help others see the value in journeys they once under valued. Imani has always been seen as emotional so she decided to use it to her advantage to help others feel seen whether its in real life or on a stage/screen.
Moreover, Imani loves music for very similar reasons as to why she loves acting, because of the stories and emotions behind it. Although she loves singing she prefers to keep it in the shower. Imani's favorite artist is Jack Harlow and she does not see that changing her foreseeable future. Yet, some of her close seconds would include Justin Bieber, J. Cole, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and the "Let it Shine" bangers from Disney Channel. She is also very fond of country music and can't wait for Kane Brown to go tour again. In light of her being an actor her go-to show is "The Proud Family", her go-to movie is "The Princess & the Frog", and her go-to musical is "Hamilton". Imani's empathetic and positive attitude has led her to achieve many things and will continue to let her get whatever she wants in life.
