My name is Hailey Duffett and I attend the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am originally from Alexandria, Virginia, right outside of Washington DC. I am a sophomore so this past year was filled with me learning more about New York City and all that it has to offer. Finding new restaurants, parks, running trails, museums, and book stores all taught me more about the city and my interests.
Firstly, I love all things outdoors. A small complication is being in such a large city, but it has taught me to find new places to really spend time outside. I love to run, so I was able to find new running paths, the West Side Highway, and even try some new running clubs! I also love some good time inside, reading, binge watching a show, or journaling. I love mostly fiction novels from RomComs to fantasy. But, I also self help books to help me keep a clear mind while reading. I think that my love for reading is what got me into journaling. I love to write down small things about my day or log places that I’d Ike to go, from goals to restaurants! Both of these hobbies have helped me to grow in my writing and fall in love with it.
Being so far from home at school has taught me to always put myself out there and make the most of my time. So I am defiantly an extrovert always ready to try something new with friends. However, I also love to focus on school. I am majoring in Fashion Business Management but I also am looking into an English or Journalism minor.
This past summer I interned for an outreach organization on my town, and was able to help with their marketing efforts. This enabled me to learn more about how writing and decisive tone can help an organization’s success. In the future I would like to pursue a career that involves writing, either in small ways like this, or larger such as journalism.
