Glerysbeth A. Chaparro Vélez is a fifth-year Psychology major at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM). She is currently working on an investigation about the feminicide crisis in Puerto Rico, a topic that has fueled her passion for research, advocacy, and creating awareness around issues that impact her community.
When she is not in class or conducting research, Glerysbeth enjoys being active on campus and finding new ways to engage with others—whether through student activities, collaborations, or connecting with people from different backgrounds. She is always seeking opportunities to learn, grow, and build meaningful connections.
Outside of academics, Glerysbeth has a love for collecting keychains, blind boxes, and trinkets that add personality and joy to her everyday life. She also enjoys caring for plants, binge-watching thriller movies, and spending time at the beach, one of her favorite places to recharge and find inspiration.
At her core, Glerysbeth values curiosity, creativity, and community. Whether through research, student involvement, or personal passions, she strives to embrace every opportunity with dedication and enthusiasm.
