I am currently in my third year of university, majoring in Mental Health and Addiction within the Social Science program. My academic interests lie in understanding how biological, psychological, and social factors intersect in shaping experiences of mental illness and substance use. Through my coursework, I have gained a strong foundation in the theories and practices that inform mental health care, addiction treatment, and recovery support. These studies have fueled my commitment to pursuing a master’s degree and a career in psychotherapy, where I hope to reduce stigma, advocate for accessible care, and empower individuals on their healing journeys.
In addition to my academic path, I work part-time as a cosmetician at my local Shoppers Drug Mart. This role has not only allowed me to develop practical skills in customer service and skincare knowledge but has also deepened my ability to connect with people in a compassionate and approachable way. Alongside my role as a cosmetician, I also manage the store’s social media presence, where I create content that highlights products, promotions, and events. This opportunity has strengthened my creativity, communication skills, and ability to engage with the community in meaningful ways.
Outside of school and work, I enjoy balancing my time with personal interests that foster creativity and well-being. Journaling, cooking, and exploring new fitness routines are important outlets for me, alongside spending time with family and friends. These practices help me maintain balance and resilience as I work toward my academic and professional goals. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue building on both my academic knowledge and professional experiences as I prepare for a career dedicated to supporting mental health and addiction recovery.
