Elizabeth Lopez is a sophomore at The University of Texas at Austin, where she is majoring in Health & Society while completing the prerequisites for dental school. Her academic interests include health, psychology , biology, and the ways social and environmental factors can influence people's health.
Her ultimate goal is to attend dental school after completing her undergraduate degree and ultimately hopes to specialize in orthodontics. Elizabeth's interest in healthcare has also encouraged her to pursue opportunities outside the classroom, including volunteering and dental shadowing. Throughout high school, she participated in several academic and service organizations and founded a Women in STEM organization, experiences that helped strengthen her interest in science, leadership, and helping others.
Outside of academics, Elizabeth likes spending her time reading, baking sourdough bread, and spending time with her family and friends. Reading is one of her favorite and biggest hobbies, specifically contemporary fiction and fantasy novels. Because of this, she also tends to enjoy discovering new authors and stories in her free time. Through a combination of all of these hobbies, she is able to have creative outlets outside of her science-focused coursework. As she continues her education at UT Austin, Elizabeth hopes to grow academically and personally while gaining experiences that will prepare her for her future.
