D'Nyah Jefferson - Philmore

Howard '26

D'Nyah Jefferson-Philmore is a part of the Marketing Team at the Her Campus at Howard University. She is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native majoring in journalism and is passionate about becoming a future news anchor.

Beyond Her Campus, D'Nyah works as a Student Advocacy staff member at the Cathy Hughes School of Communication. She wants to be a role model and encourage youth from all walks of life that anything is possible, by supporting underprivileged children and giving back to her community. She is currently a sophomore at Howard University, with big dreams of becoming the next Gale King.

In her free time, D'Nyah finds immense joy and fulfillment in two passionate pursuits: dancing and writing poetry. These creative outlets serve as not only a means of self-expression but also a way for her to connect with the world and convey her emotions and thoughts.

Dancing is like a language of its own for D'Nyah. It allows her to move and groove to the rhythm of life, expressing her innermost feelings through graceful movements and intricate choreography. Whether it's the fluidity of contemporary dance, the elegance of ballet, or the vibrant energy of hip-hop, D'Nyah immerses herself in the world of dance, where she can lose herself and find herself all at once.

On the other hand, writing poetry is her way of capturing moments and emotions in words. With each carefully chosen word and beautifully crafted verse, she weaves stories, paints vivid imagery, and delves into the depths of her thoughts and experiences. Poetry serves as her sanctuary, a place where she can lay bare her soul and explore the complexities of the human experience.

To share her artistic creations with the world, D'Nyah has created a website dedicated to her collection of poems. This virtual gallery provides a platform for her to showcase her artistic side to a global audience. Visitors to her website can explore the depths of her emotions and thoughts as they are beautifully laid out in her verses. It's a place where words dance and emotions sing, offering a glimpse into D'Nyah's unique perspective on life, love, and the world around her.

Through her website, she hopes to not only inspire others but also connect with fellow artists and poetry enthusiasts who share her passion. It's a testament to her commitment to the arts and her desire to use her talents to foster creativity and appreciation for the beauty of dance and poetry in all those who visit her online sanctuary.
