I’m Danya Jones, a freshman at Howard University majoring in Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences Honors Program. I’m originally from Houston, Texas, and I’ve always been passionate about understanding people and what makes them thrive, whether in friendships, communities, or future workplaces. I plan to focus on Industrial and Organizational Psychology because I love the idea of creating environments where people feel motivated, supported, and successful.
On top of my studies, I’ve dedicated myself to leadership and community impact in ways that feel both creative and meaningful. I founded Lashes of Love, a project that brings beauty services and confidence to seniors, and I served as President of Youth Building in Greatness (Y/BIG), mentoring underserved youth and helping them see their own potential. I’ve also organized initiatives like Holidays for the Homeless, which combined service, planning, and collaboration to provide meals and support for those in need. These experiences continue to shape how I lead with compassion, creativity, and a focus on uplifting others.
When I’m not studying or involved in service, I’m usually exploring my personal passions fashion, fitness, and creative media. I love putting together outfits that make me feel confident, hitting the gym, and designing digital content like flyers, visuals, and even podcast episodes. Joining Her Campus feels like the perfect way to bring together all the things I love: creativity, writing, and connecting with others. I’m excited to use my voice to share stories that inspire, uplift, and empower other women on campus.
