I’m a second-year Law student at the University of Exeter, originally from rural North Wales. Although I spend a lot of my time thinking about cases, legislation and essays, writing has always been one of my favourite ways to explore the things I’m interested in. I’m particularly drawn to topics surrounding student life, culture, education and the experiences of young people, as well as stories about Wales and the communities that often feel a little further from the spotlight.
Outside of my degree, I’m a self-confessed theatre and literature nerd. Shakespeare has a permanent place in my life, alongside a slightly excessive love of musicals, period dramas, literary adaptations and anything that gives me an excuse to go to the theatre. I’m also a huge film lover and can usually be found adding something to my Letterboxd, hunting down my next cinema trip or enthusiastically recommending a film nobody asked me about. Greek mythology, good soundtracks and books that leave me thinking about them long after I’ve finished them are also particularly welcome.
University has given me plenty of opportunities to explore those interests while meeting people from completely different backgrounds. Coming from a rural community in Wales, I’m especially interested in the different experiences students bring with them to university and how factors such as location, opportunity and background can shape student life. When I’m not studying or writing, I’m probably at the theatre, watching a film, listening to music, reading, attempting to cook something ambitious in my student kitchen, or finding a new niche obsession to add to the list.
