Hi! My name is Cassandra Marino, but I usually go by Cassie! I am a Junior majoring in Social Work with a Public Health minor. I hope to assist people in the future with getting the medical resources that they need and advocating for them. The goal is to work one-on-one with others or as a part of an intervention & crisis team.
I have been told that I have a bleeding heart or that I feel too much, but I believe that there isn’t anything wrong with that! Everyone deserves to be cared for and I have no shame in wanting to offer the care (of course with a dash of self care thrown in there).
Some of my hobbies include gaming, reading, and yarn crafts! I have been crocheting for ten years and have recently picked up knitting. I have definitely made more projects with crocheting (3 blankets, 2 sweaters, mini tapestries, and plushies!) than with knitting, but I hope to work up to knitting a blanket somehow.
Some extra facts about me: I am the oldest out of four (three younger sisters and one brother), I transferred to UIUC last semester, I am Black and Cuban, and I have Epilepsy!
