Texas '27

Hi, I'm Caris! I'm a student at the University of Texas at Austin, double majoring in anthropology, government, and philosophy with a minor in Chinese. I previously attended an early college high school, where I graduated with my associates degree in general studies. I am in the Liberal Arts Honors Program, where I take honors classes am currently preparing for my honors theses in anthropology and philosophy! Currently, I plan to attend law school for either civil international law.
As a woman, it is very important to me to uplift women. This is partly what drew me to Her Campus. I want to exist in spaces for women and by women, and I have always had a passion for writing! Besides this organizations, I have been working as a senior opinion columnist for the Daily Texan and am a writer for the Texas Undergraduate Law Journal. I have also engaged in research internships with both Project Seed and the Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (URAP). Over the summer, I also work as a debate instructor in California, Massachusetts, and Washington.
Some of my passions include debate (obviously) and creating constructed languages! With my anthropology degree, I want to focus on linguistic anthropology. Previously, I have created conlangs for some of my favorite video games like Legend of Zelda and Stardew Valley! Both of these activities really help me relax in my free time, and give me a creative outlet outside of work and school!
