Camila Rivera-Rodriguez

UFL '29

Camila Rivera-Rodriguez is a first-year student at the University of Florida studying Journalism. In high school, she became interested in media when she was Editor-in-Chief of her yearbook and started the student-led social media page DPFIRSTLOOK, which was committed to real interviews with her peers. Taking up these roles helped her learn how to write, edit, and narrate online as well as establish strong connections with an audience. She aims to apply these skills along with her passion for sports media and ultimately work towards her goal of reporting in the Formula 1 paddock and contributing towards increased women's involvement in motorsport.

Apart from journalism, Camila has always had a creative bent. She did a visual arts magnet program in high school, where she developed a portfolio exploring surrealism, identity, and self-expression. Her work is presented in community shows such as the Maitland Art Festival and the Hispanic Heritage Exhibit. It is not a hobby to her—art is what her family's sacrifices are all for, especially her father relinquishing his own artistic pursuits. In continuing this creative passion, Camila is still honoring her family and also finding her own voice as a writer and artist.

Outside of school and creative endeavors, Camila loves music, fashion, and socializing. She enjoys concert-going, playlist-making for every mood, and rocking a comfy fit. She is also cultivating passions for new media, interviewing, and creating content that combine personality and purpose. In whatever medium; art, writing, or simply good conversation. Camila desires to inspire others to be themselves and do what they love without fear.
