Avery is a sophomore at the University of Missouri majoring in journalism with an emphasis in strategic communications and a minor in sociology. She is from Carmel By The Sea, California, and loves to be outdoors, spend time with friends and family, read classic literature, and try new things.
In terms of journalistic experience, Avery completed a two-week journalism program at England's Cambridge University, taught by The Guardian writer Erica Buist. There, she had the opportunity to receive feedback from experts in the field, do hands-on reporting on global issues, and work alongside like-minded peers from all corners of the world. Currently, she is a member of Her Campus Mizzou, the Public Relations Student Society of America, and serves on the Social Media Committee and as the Director of Newsletter for her sorority.
