Ava is a Junior at St. John's University majoring in Communication Studies with a concentration in Political Communication and Civic Engagement. She is originally from Massachusetts, and grew up outside of Boston. Ava is aiming for a career in social media management, non profit work, or journalism. She has many passions within the field of communication and is very involved with the Communication Studies department at St. John’s University.
Ava is involved in research within the field of rhetoric and communications, examining elements of rhetoric like cinema, color theory, and pop culture. She has presented research on color theory within the film Moonlight and is most recently working with a research grant to examine the standards of sexuality that pop culture sets for our society. Ava joined Her Campus because she feels strongly about empowerment and loves the outlet and community it provides to students.
In her free time, Ava loves to travel, try new foods, and thrift. She recently was in Rome, Italy, and fills her summer with trips to places like Oregon, Miami, and California. Ava is a loyal Celtics fan, and always finds time to cheer on the St. John’s basketball team at MSG. She is always on the hunt for a new sushi spot, and she loves exploring neighborhoods in New York City.
