TAMU '29

My name is Ashley Bocanegra, and I am from Pharr, Texas. I am currently a freshman at Texas A&M University in College Station, where I am pursuing a degree in Business with plans to focus on Marketing. I have always been drawn to collaboration and creativity, which makes marketing an exciting path for me. In addition to my career goals in business, I hope to attend law school in the future and become an attorney, either in the litigation field or in criminal law. My passion for advocacy and leadership fuels these aspirations, as I believe in using my voice and education to make an impact.

At Texas A&M, I am a proud member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Joining this sisterhood has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my college journey so far. Through Gamma Phi Beta, I have been able to grow personally, strengthen my leadership skills, and surround myself with women who support and encourage one another. Outside of academics and campus involvement, I enjoy exploring my creative side. I have always been a crafty person, whether it’s painting, making handmade items, or finding small projects to work on. I also enjoy staying active, whether that means going for a run, taking a walk, or simply spending time outdoors.

Another passion of mine is filmmaking, which I discovered during my senior year of high school. I created a short film about my father, a veteran, to raise awareness about the mental health struggles many veterans face after returning home. That experience not only taught me valuable skills but also gave me the opportunity to connect with others on a deeper level. Filmmaking has since become something I truly love, from the storytelling process to the creative collaboration it requires. Whether through my studies, sorority, or creative projects, I strive to keep learning, growing, and challenging myself while also finding ways to uplift the people and communities around me.
