Hi, I'm Anna. I'm a freshman at Florida State University majoring in psychology on the pre-med track. I found Her Campus through Instagram, and I loved how it felt like a digital sorority, bringing women together through stories, pop-culture, and campus life.
I have been heavily involved in medicine through clinical internships, FSU's Summer Medical Institute, and Summer Action Research Program where I did research on Autism Awareness and self-care for adolescents. I plan to be a psychiatrist, so mental health is a fundamental passion of mine. Writing has always been my second language. In high school, I developed many of my writing skills through recreational writing like journaling, songwriting, poetry, and even classes like AICE English Language. I also have a background in competitive public speaking and won first place in county-level competitions. As a Hispanic American, I value diverse perspectives and representation, and I bring with me a background in music performance after four years at a school of the arts.
Outside of academics, there is much more to me. I'm passionate about fitness, music, and self-care, and I often weave those topics into my writing. I love pop-culture and social media, and I hold a very romantic perspective due to influence by artists like Lana Del Rey and Charli XCX. I enjoy watching films and shows like Gossip Girl, Sex and the City, psycho-thrillers, dramas... and the list goes on. I also have an appreciation for aesthetics, which I express through fashion and apps like Pinterest.
I hope to capture a mix of creativity, culture, and confidence through my writing. Above all, I'm here to write about the beautiful chaos of college life- and all the ways we, as women, find unity and empowerment through it.
