Amyah Gibson, originally from Oakland, California and currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia, is a full-time student enrolled at Clark Atlanta University. Amyah’s academic pursuits
at the university involve studying Mass Media Arts, with a minor in Business Administration,
specializing in Public Relations. Despite the challenges of juggling studies and employment,
Amyah takes immense pride in achieving a place on the Dean's List while simultaneously
managing her own media management company, AscendSocial. Amyah is an extremely
hard-working, motivated, and proven leader that harbors aspirations of pursuing a career in
social media marketing, driven to leave a significant and lasting impact in the digital world.
Amyah has been accepted into multiple programs where she was able to grow her
leadership skills and highlight her capabilities. Invesco’s Rising Stars Scholar Program for
example, where she was selected among several applicants to join the prestigious program with a
curriculum designed to enhance leadership attributes and further develop knowledge in a
preferred industry.
Another notable opportunity that Amyah had was her summer internship with Lightship
Foundation. This pivotal moment in her academic and professional pursuits showcased her
entrepreneurial skills embarking on her first business trip to Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of
eighteen, making Amyah the youngest contributor in the group. Throughout her internship, she
worked diligently to learn about marketing and management. Amyah plans to apply these new
skills to her own business as well as her academic career.
Amyah’s internship with Yellow Heart Committee sparked a desire for community
service and a passion for positive societal change. Amyah has also participated in Women of
CAU, which added yet another dimension of her growth where she found inspiration and
camaraderie among other accomplished Black women. These experiences instilled a goal of
self-improvement and ignited a passion and commitment for community service.
Looking forward to an enriching academic experience, Amyah is eager to be apart of the
Her Campus: Clark Atlanta University chapter, where she recognizes its emphasis on innovation,
fostering idea cultivation, critical thinking and ethical decision-making. She eagerly anticipates
engaging in community service, honing leadership skills, and embracing competitive
scholarships, internships, and career advancement prospects. This program gives her the necessary tools for success within her desired field of social media marketing.
The road ahead is embarked with ambition. Her determination is impeccable as she
strives to maintain her position on the Dean's List and attain a 4.0 GPA and continues her
involvement with the Isabella T Jenkins Honors Program. Completing her degree at Clark
Atlanta University, will open the door to an infinite amount of possibilities as she will be able to
continue to focus on giving back to the community and her school. Post graduation, Amyah
seeks to deepen her understanding of media arts and marketing, propelling her forward in her
chosen field. Amyah has unwavering
dedication to academic progress, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for community service.
