My name is Amaya Kang. I am 18 years old and currently a freshman here at UIUC. I have always been deeply connected to athletics, spending much of my life playing both softball and volleyball, with softball being my primary sport. Through years of training and competing, I have gained valuable skills such as leadership, perseverance, and teamwork. My involvement in sports has also shaped the way I approach challenges and motivated me to pursue a career path connected to health and movement.
Currently, I am an undeclared student in the ACES program, but I plan to major in kinesiology with the long-term goal of becoming a physical therapist. My athletic background has inspired this direction, as I have seen firsthand the importance of rehabilitation, recovery, and physical well-being in helping individuals maintain active lifestyles. I hope to combine my passion for sports with my desire to support others through a career dedicated to health and performance.
Beyond academics and athletics, I was also involved in a mentoring program during school, which strengthened my communication skills and allowed me to guide younger students. Outside of structured activities, I enjoy shopping, spending time with friends, trying new restaurants, and being with my family. I value balance in my life and prioritize both growth and meaningful connections.
