My name is Alexia Andrasi, I am currently studying Honours English Literature and Rhetoric at the University of Waterloo in the last semester of my second year. I was born in Romania but moved to Canada at the age of two, but I always stay in touch with my culture and make sure to stay connected to my relatives, this led to my strong excitement in writing about culture. I also have a strong passion for recognizing wellness and how to contribute positively to our mental health as well as having a strong desire to build a career in writing.
Specifically, I aspire to pursue a career in Journalism or teaching English courses in the future due to my enjoyable experiences writing. I have written for high school newspapers in the past about cultural issues and events that occurred in the school like assemblies, dances, fundraisers, and holidays. I also practiced my writing skills when aiding in writing short marketing strategies at Goodlife Fitness which allowed me to apply my skills in a new way.
In addition to practicing writing skills in past extracurriculars as well as current job roles, I also find pleasure in writing as a hobby and continually practice to extend my skills further. I enjoy journaling, finding topics to write and research about, and creative writing and I request critique throughout practicing these. Another thing I enjoy is reading literature, this being fiction, historical fiction, and nonfiction genres. My favorite authors are Kristin Hannah, Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, and Taylor Jenkins Reid, however, these constantly change.
