Hi! My name is Alexa Hernandez, and I’m a Social Work major at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I transferred to UIUC after attending the College of DuPage, and I’m excited to be starting this new chapter of my life. I’ve always been interested in people, their stories, and the different experiences that shape who they are. Studying Social Work has given me an even stronger interest in connecting with others and learning about different perspectives.
Outside of school, I have a lot of experience working with kids. I’ve worked in before- and after-school programs, summer camps, and at a swim school, where I’ve had different roles working with children and families. I’ve also played sports, including college soccer, which has taught me a lot about teamwork, discipline, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. Along with working with kids, I have experience in marketing and enjoy the creative side of coming up with ideas, connecting with people, and creating content.
When I’m not at school or work, I love spending time with my friends and family, traveling, listening to music, going out, and exploring new places. I’m always looking for new experiences and ways to make memories. I’m excited to be part of Her Campus because I love having a space where college girls can be open, relatable, and share experiences that others can connect with. I hope to use my own experiences to write about topics like college life, friendships, relationships, personal growth, and figuring life out in your 20s.
