The romance book  “Love & Gelato” by Jenna Evans Welch will become a movie! It will get an adaptation on Netflix with a release date scheduled for June 22nd. Here’s everything we know about it so far:

ABOUT THE BOOK

The book was published in 2016 and was a great success for its addictive story. The novel tells the story of Lina, who goes to Tuscany, in Italy, to fulfill her mother’s last wish: for her to meet her father. She doesn’t want to travel to Italy to see her father for the first time, after 16 years. That’s until she finds her mother’s old diary from when she lived there. As she reads, she begins to discover the beauty of Tuscany and the family secrets hidden behind years of history.

“Love & Gelato” makes the reader feel like they are on vacation from the very first pages. As the story unfolds, you start to get so involved that you can smell ice cream, feel your hair flying when riding a motorcycle through the streets of Italy and hear the sound of the river mixed with laughter. The magic of bringing a place for the reader through pages is something that Jenna Evans masters. During all her 3 books, the reader can get to know a little bit about each culture in a new country, making this trilogy so special.

The person who’s behind the adaptation is Brandon Camp. He is the writer and director of the film. You may know him for directing and producing the 2018 reboot of “Benji” or for directing the movie “Love Happens”, starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart in 2009.

MEET THE CAST

About the cast, as far as we know, Owen Mcdonnell (from Killing Eve) will play the role of Howard, Susanna Skaggs as Lina, Tobia de Angelis as Lorenzo Ferraza, Anjelika Washington as Addie, Valentina Lodovini as Francesca, Alex Boniello as Fleetwood Zach and Marie-France Arcilla as Vicki.

Filming has already wrapped but if you want a sneak peek of the movie you can check some photos on the cast’s and Netflix’s Instagram accounts. We can’t wait to see if this adaptation will be worth the wait.
