One of my favorite things to do, most recently, is to study and relax at cafes. But not just any kind of cafe – plant cafes! Since coming to Oahu, I have found some of the cutest and most calming cafes that have aesthetically pleasing plants around their shops.

In light of Earth Day 2022, here are three plant cafes that you must try, especially if you’re a plant lover, coffee/tea enthusiast, and in need of a place with chill and de-stressing vibes!

Plantoem

Located at 3457 Waialae Ave Second Floor, Unit 203, Honolulu, HI 96816.

This little plant sanctuary and cafe was my first plant cafe that I’ve ever went to and since then I love going there. When you first walk in, you’re greeted by a room filled with plants galore! Then, in the back there’s a small area to sit, study, read, and drink one of their refreshing teas. They also offer events and special offers for all ages.

ARVO Cafe

Located at 324 Coral Street at SALT, Honolulu, HI 96813.

This spot is a modern cafe with really good food, coffee, and offers a lot of photo ops. What I thought was a super cute touch was that they also sell plants and succulents! You can customize your very own mini plant vessel, filled with your choice of fillings and of course plants. I love pairing their Nutella toast with an iced latte and sitting at a table with their hanging plants nearby.

ALO Cafe Hawaii

Located at 159 Kaiulani Ave. #105, Honolulu HI 96815-3224.

This cafe isn’t a plant sanctuary like Plantoem, but they offer a bunch of sweet treats that you have to try. It’s a cute little place that is entirely vegan! They specialize in plant-based foods and offer fresh and the highest-quality ingredients possible. I like to get their acai bowls and smoothies, but have also heard good things about their coffee.

Not only do I get to surround myself with good company, plants, and tasty coffee/tea, I get to appreciate the many beautiful plants and environments around me. It’s also very engaging to learn about the different plants that are native in Hawaii and that are used in the things I eat. I highly recommend you, too, try these cafes out and stop to look at (or buy) the succulents!
