5 Best Thrift Stores in Pittsburgh

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Get your reusable bags ready!

clothes Minded

📍4740 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224

Located in the Bloomfield neighborhood, Clothes Minded is just a short bus ride away. It’s so easy to find trendy and unique pieces here. The staff is super friendly, and Bloomfield is one of my favorite Pittsburgh neighborhoods to explore! The store sits right next to White Wale Bookstore too, so you can make a whole shopping day out of it if you want!

Avalon Exchange

📍5834 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15217

It may be bougee, but Avalon Exchange is definitely worth it. I’m absolutely obsessed with their huge sunglass wall, especially now that summer is just around the corner. They are also very active on their Instagram account! If you see a post with an item that you want, its super easy to call and purchase it over the phone. This Squirrel Hill gem deserves a visit for sure.

Thriftique

📍125 51st St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201

Thriftique is such a greater local business to support in the Lawrenceville neighborhood. The store’s proceeds go towards the National Council of Jewish Women in Pittsburgh, and they have a bunch of designer items for sale. Head over to shop and support a great cause!

The Clothes Line

📍4804 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224

Also located in Bloomfield along with Clothes Minded, you can have a packed thrifting day! Not only does Clothes Line have lots of pieces for you to sift through, they also have a bunch of books to choose from as well. I’m trying to get into reading more, so I will definitely be stopping by before leaving Pittsburgh for the summer to stock up on some new reads!

East End Community Thrift

📍5123 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224

Last but not least, East End Community Thrift is one of my all-time favorites! The staff is so friendly every time I go, and I love their mission as well. They give a portion of the donated clothes to different shelters and organizations. It is super affordable, which is great for college students on a budget.

Thrifting is ~sustainable~ so it’s not a waste of money, right? Happy shopping! 😉
