Modern Family is one of the most entertaining and witty sitcoms! From hilarious characters to recurring themes like the broken staircase, Clive Bixby and Julianna, and Fizbo’s shenanigans, Modern Family reinvented family comedy. Here is a list of five of the funniest Modern Family episodes!
1. “Come Fly With Me” – Season 1, Episode 3
The highlight of this episode is Mitchell discovering the wonders of Costco. While he is initially skeptical of the store, it begins to grow on him to the extent that he even considers purchasing coffins due to the convenience! It’s quite hilarious watching Mitch grab every single item in the store!
2. “My Funky Valentine” – Season 1, Episode 15
This episode marks the first of many of Clive and Julianna’s adventures! Phil and Claire’s role play alter-egos get you every time, especially because you know something is definitely going to go wrong! Jay takes a reluctant Gloria to a stand-up comedy show, and Mitch and Cam play wingmen for Manny!
3. “Las Vegas” – Season 5, Episode 18
The character that makes me laugh the most is definitely Jay, and this episode is a prime example! The family takes a trip to Las Vegas and their shenanigans in the Excelsior Hotel are truly hilarious! Be on the lookout for Mitchell running into his old boyfriend, Claire’s unexpected talent in gambling, Rebarka (if you know, you know), and Jay’s recurring pettiness at not being the most esteemed guest at the hotel!
4. “The Day We Almost Died” – Season 6, Episode 11
In this episode, the Dunphy family has a near-death experience, almost crashing into a truck that ran a stop sign. The way each of them deals with their ‘trauma’ is quite entertaining to watch. Claire strives for spontaneity and Phil goes full-on YOLO; putting his foot down and bringing home an alpaca like he always wanted to. Yes, read that again. Phil really pheels himself in this one (sorry, I had to)!
5. “Phil’s Sexy, Sexy House” – Season 7, Episode 7
This episode is the definition of non-stop laughter! Phil helps sell an absolutely luxurious house which results in a comedy of errors and hilarious misunderstandings. Phil wants to use the huge house as a place to play his VR game and Claire misinterprets this as an invitation to roleplay as Clive and Julianna. Mitch and Cam sneak into the house to get some private time (you don’t want to miss Magic Mitch’s performance). This episode also marks the beginning of Haley and Andy’s secret romance!
