Jobs and Summer Internships: Tips for You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

Finding a summer job or internship can be hard. With March coming to an end and spring approaching, it can be stressful if you do not have something lined up yet. Just relax and realize you still have time!

One of your biggest saving graces is making sure to sign up for networking apps like LinkedIn and Handshake. Handshake is a social networking app that was made for college students to communicate with alumni, find internships, and network with bigger companies. Because Holy Cross has such an excellent alumni network, reaching out to any alumni that have a job you might be interested in can be really easy. Holy Cross alumni have diverse jobs, so feel free to shoot them an email!

Along with that, it is great to visit the HC Career Center. The Career Center offers excellent guidance and advice on possible career paths, job interviews, job applications, and internships. With Holy Cross being a liberal arts institution, the widespread education opens up all sorts of different career paths. It does not hurt to try an internship that may be out of your comfort zone. Apply for as many jobs and internships as possible, because it never hurts to learn more about new companies and opportunities. Also never say no to an interview, because the experience is just as amazing as getting the job, and it never hurts to up your interview skills. Also, look up interview questions to help prepare yourself and make sure you know the history of your company!

Just relax and be confident in the abilities and tools that Holy Cross has brought to you!
