Taylor Swift’s Best Lyrics for Women’s History Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. John's chapter.

Happy Women’s History Month! There are so many strong female artists that we can look up to and appreciate this month. My personal favorite is Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift showed and continues to show support on current issues in recent years, specifically with LGBTQ+ and women’s rights. Here are some of my favorite Taylor Swift empowering, independent, and feminist lyrics:

  1. “But I come back stronger than a ‘90s trend”“Willow” (Evermore)
  2. “But I ain’t letting up until the day I die” “No Body, No Crime (feat. HAIM)” (Evermore)
  3. “There goes the maddest woman this town has ever seen, she had a marvelous time ruinin’ everything” – “The Last Great American Dynasty” (Folklore)
  4. “I forgot that you existed. And I thought that it would kill me, but it didn’t. And it was so nice, so peaceful and quiet”“I Forgot That You Existed” (Lover)
  5. “I’m so sick of running as fast as I can, wondering if I’d get there quicker if I was a man. And I’m so sick of them coming at me again, ’cause if I was a man, then I’d be the man”“The Man” (Lover)
  6. “Baby doll, when it comes to a lover, I promise that you’ll never find another like me”“Me! (feat. Brendon Uri of Panic! At The Disco)” (Lover)
  7. “If a man talks ****, then I owe him nothing. I don’t regret it one bit, ’cause he had it coming”“I Did Something Bad” (Reputation)
  8. “But I got smarter I got harder in the nick of time. Honey I rose up from the dead I do it all the time”“Look What You Made Me Do” (Reputation)
  9. “The world moves on, another day another drama, drama. But not for me, not for me, all I think about is karma”“Look What You Made Me Do” (Reputation)
  10. “’Cause, darling, I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream”“Blank Space” (1989)
  11. “So I punched a hole in the roof, let the flood carry away all my pictures of you”“Clean” (1989)
  12. “’Cause baby, I could build a castle out of all the bricks they threw at me”“New Romantics” (1989)
  13. “Call a cab, lose my number, let’s consider this lesson learned”“Girl at Home (TV)” (Red TV)
  14. “When you realized I’m harder to forget than I was to leave, and I bet you think about me”“I Bet You Think About Me (TV)” (Red TV)
  15. “ **** the patriarchy”“All Too Well (10 minute version)(TV)” (Red TV)
  16. “But I took your matches before fire could catch me so don’t look now, I’m shining like fireworks over your sad, empty town”“Dear John” (Speak Now)
  17. “It’s too late to catch me now”– “White Horse (TV)” (Fearless TV)
  18. “Well, I’m sick and tired of your attitude” “Tell Me Why” (Fearless TV)
  19. “There’s no time for tears, I’m just sitting here planning my revenge”“Picture to Burn” (Taylor Swift)
  20. “You’re beautiful, every little piece, love. Don’t you know you’re really gonna be someone, ask anyone…”“Stay Beautiful” (Taylor Swift)
