How to take care of yourself the week before break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

The last week before break is exhausting. With tests and assignments piling up when you’ve had about enough it can make you feel really overwhelmed. And if you do feel stressed or anxious or just plain tired, I understand.Even in the midst of a really busy week, you owe it to yourself to do something kind for you.

Here are some of the ways I got through the last week before spring break.

  1. Working out. I know it’s difficult to carve out time during the week to go and hop on the treadmill but when you’re feeling stressed or having a bunch of energy, the gym is sometimes the best medicine. It helps lower your stress levels and give you a boost of endorphins which can put you in a better frame of mind for the rest of the day.
  2. Have some tea. Get out your lemon, pumpkin, or your matcha tea and get a hot cup for yourself going. Tea is not only good for you in that it calms you but it is also good for your skin too. As long as the tea isn’t overly sweet or has too much caffeine this can be a great way to soothe yourself in the middle of a busy time.
  3. Read a little. We stare at screens all day long. All day. Having that much time staring at a screen is bad for you and it is necessary to step away and unplug for a bit. If you have a book you’re reading or just want to stare at some pages it can be a nice break from equations or lecture material.

College is a super busy time and it can be hard to find some peace but there are ways to take care of yourself.

I am a fourth year at the University of Texas at Austin. I am currently studying Asian Languages and Cultures as well as Music Performance. I love making music, doing my makeup, and exploring places to eat.
