I Just Started ‘9-1-1 Lonestar’ and You Should Too

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pace chapter.

Last year, I started ABC’s Station 19 and immediately fell in love with it. So, when a friend of mine convinced me to watch FOX’s 9-1-1 Lonestar, I didn’t hesitate to start it. Owen Strand (Rob Lowe), a New York firefighter and his son T.K. Strand (Ronen Rubinstein) have been relocated to Station 126 in Austin, Texas. Besides the Strands, the show features different first responders such as firefighters, paramedics, and police officers.

9-1-1 Lonestar also has a lot of representation. Just to name a few, there’s “Tarlos,” the fan favorite couple including T.K. and his police officer boyfriend, Carlos Reyes (Rafael Silva), Marjan Marwani (Natacha Karama) who’s Muslim, and Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith) who’s transgender. Besides the diverse cast, they also cover many important topics like COVID-19, the loss of a parent, and drug addiction.

If these reasons weren’t enough for you to start watching Lonestar, don’t worry I’ve got more for you. Lonestar is a procedural drama which is a drama that focuses on a type of profession. Whether the characters are on a call or off a call, this show will constantly keep you on your toes. 9-1-1 Lonestar is on Monday’s on FOX at 8:00 p.m. until 9-1-1 returns to television screens (which I also recently just started) on March 21st then, Lonestar will be on at 9:00 p.m. You can also stream all three seasons on Hulu now. Trust me; you won’t regret it.
