It’s March, so that means Women’s History Month is here! It is that special time of year when women get the recognition they deserve. Do you know anyone who might be wondering how they can celebrate this month, or are you stuck wondering yourself? I have some suggestions and tips for how you and your friends can celebrate the amazing women that have helped pave the way for us today!

  1. Dive deeper into the history of women’s rights

Take some time to learn about our history as women in America! Here is a great link to get started: History of Women’s Rights

  1. Learn more about the issues women are still dealing with today

There are a few areas in which progress has been made for women, but there is still a long way to go. Women are faced with obstacles every day because of their gender, whether that be in wages, work opportunities, beauty standards, and the list go on and on from here. Not to mention the cruel and inhuman issues we deal with on a daily basis as well.

  1. Share a post on social media to spread awareness

Sharing a simple post to share Women’s History Month is an easy way to celebrate!

  1. Support a nonprofit that supports women

If you are one that wants to make a measurable difference during this year’s Women’s History Month, support a non-profit organization or charity that goes back to supporting women and girls. There are so many amazing charities, such as LiveYourDream.org!

  1. Support a woman-owned business

In this present day, women still represent a small fraction of business owners. Support one or two or even three amazing women-owned businesses this March!

There are so many more ways to celebrate the women in your life as well as those who aren’t! Keep in mind that women should be celebrated a full 12 months of the year, but March is a special time for us to remember sacrifices made by powerful and honorable women – the women who work to make our lives and the world a more inclusive place.

I’m a Junior at GCU working towards my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I love learning new things and being creative 24/7. A few of my hobbies are running my small business, singing, dancing (badly), playing with my pup and enjoying the amazing people I surround myself with!
