Let me preface this article with this statement: Taylor Swift has no skips. Not a singular bad song/album/trait. However, I keep seeing people attempt to rank her albums from best to worst, and every single time I am appalled by how wrong they are. So, I took it upon myself to rank them in the correct order.

Reputation

A masterpiece. Reputation was robbed by the Grammy Awards because it has no flaws. In 2022 alone I have played this album 263 times. It is only the beginning of March. This album is also her most romantic and vulnerable album, regardless of what Lover stans will tell you. Also, here is my sister and I at the Reputation Stadium Tour! Fun fact: we had our seats upgraded by Taylor Nation.

tAYLOR sWIFT

Oh my goodness, I love this album. I will not accept any slander. I don’t care if you “don’t like country music.” I don’t ever want to see you sing along to “Our Song” or “Teardrops On My Guitar” again unless you give this album the respect it deserves. Critics (who are wrong) will argue that it isn’t her best writing— but try saying that to “Cold As You” or “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My).”

fOLKLORE

folklore is the album that brought swifties and non-swifties alike together. It unified us as people, as a country, one could even say the world. A complete genre shift proved that once again Taylor Swift IS the music industry. She can do country, she can do pop and she can do folklore (people will yell at me for calling it indie/alternative so instead I am forgoing naming a genre entirely).

1989

I could talk about 1989 for hours and still have more to say. 1989 marked Taylor’s official switch to pop music, while changing the game of pop music as well. This album is perfection—no skips to be found. This album also has my favorite song ever (like, ever) “Clean,” as well as the best pop song in existence: “Style.”

Lover

This album barely made it above Red, but it won because of the song “The Archer,” as well as the overall aesthetics of the album. The photoshoot done for Lover has to be one of the most stunning photoshoots ever done, I’m obsessed with it. I dyed my hair pink today after staring at the Lover artwork for too long.

Red (Taylor’s Version)

We’re now getting to the portion of the list that people will get very angry if their favorite album is here. I’m sorry, Red stans. I am also angry at myself. This album has so many masterpieces, from “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” to one of my favorite songs ever, “Treacherous,” this album should be ranked much higher, but I keep moving the order of the albums around and I’ve decided to stick to my gut instincts. I also attended this tour and remember absolutely nothing except Ed Sheeran opening for her, and yes, I hate myself for it every single day.

Also, here is me at the concert that I have no recollection of.

Speak Now

Please don’t hate me. I love this album wholeheartedly, and I don’t take the fact that she wrote the album entirely by herself for granted. However, sometimes we have to make tough choices, and something has to take seventh place. Speak Now is an amazing album with wonderful songs. Please accept this photo of me age nine dressed as Taylor before the Speak Now tour as an apology.

Fearless (Taylor’s Version)

Nostalgia! This album sounds like my childhood. I remember my mom picking me up from school and saying, “We’re eating dinner early, we’re going to see Taylor Swift tonight!” as a surprise. This album has so many good songs on it, but my favorites have to be “Forever and Always” and “Jump Then Fall.” Also, here’s me looking swag as hell at the concert.

eVERMORE

Dear evermore fans, I’m sorry. I too love this album. There are so many amazing hidden gem songs on this album such as “Right Where You Left Me” and “Cowboy Like Me.” However, much like Taylor herself, sometimes I forget about this album. That doesn’t mean I love it any less, it just means I don’t listen to it as often. Don’t hate me.

So, there you have it. As I wrote this article, I came to the unwelcome conclusion that I am just like everyone else. My ranking is also wrong. Every Taylor Swift album is the best Taylor Swift album. However, this list is probably a pretty accurate ranking of which albums I listen to the most. As a lifelong swiftie, please don’t hate me. Here is a final childhood photo of me exhibiting fan behavior as a bribe.
