5 Ways I Feel Refreshed Every Morning

Not Another Listicle

I apologize for yet another listicle, but I promise that this one is worth it. I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t do these things every morning, even when I am running significantly late for school or work. I really wouldn’t call this a routine anymore, it’s something that I do without habit that makes for a better day in general.

Make My Bed

No matter what, I have to make my bed. It makes my room appear cleaner and it gives my brain a little push for the day, like I’ve already accomplished something. I’m typically a neat person, but if I had a late night then my clothes are probably next to my bed along with my shoes, so making my bed is really a trick for my brain.

A few years ago, my ex’s mom and I were picking on my ex for never making his bed. She ended the conversation with “Making your bed in the morning is a gift to yourself.” I think about that every morning, and it makes me think about the small things in life. To me, it’s almost like I am tucking yesterday’s issues under the bed and moving on, but in a good way. It’s a new day, give it a great start.

Take my vitamins

This is not a paid-promotion whatsoever, and I’m really not even promoting them. I take the Olly “The Perfect Women’s Multi” gummy vitamins every morning. The taste is amazing and I really feel like it just kind of opens up my tastebuds for the day, but I genuinely feel better, too. I’ve noticed my skin getting clearer, my hair is shiny and grows faster, and my nails! OMG, my nails! They grow so fast, which is a blessing because picking at them is one of my anxious ticks. If you don’t take a multivitamin as a woman, I highly recommend it!

Wash my face with cold water

I use Sweet Chef’s Carrot Ginger Salicylic Acid Pore Cleaner. This stuff is absolutely amazing. It has such a clean scent, and it just really gives you that morning glow, too. I have always had super oily skin and a lot of the products I use strip my skin of its natural oils. This cleanser gets rid of the dirt and the oil buildup while leaving everything that should be there. My skin has never felt softer!

Along with using a nice face wash that I love, I wash with cold water. It’s the biggest wake up call. I shower at night, but if you shower in the morning then try a cold rinse! Basically the last few seconds of your shower would end with water cooler than what you normally shower in, just to give your body a nice wake up. The adrenaline I get from just a quick splash of cold water on my face is so nice!

Drink a glass of water

I genuinely used to hate water. Some days I wouldn’t even touch it, and I wonder why I get so many breakouts and headaches. To kind of force myself to drink at least one glass, I always have one ready for myself with my medicine. It’s a great way for me to remember to take my medicine, plus get that necessary H2O. It also makes me not as hungry for breakfast, which is super nice if I ate an early dinner the night before.

Open my blinds

Last but not least, my favorite thing to do in the morning — I open my curtains and blinds and let the sun in! It’s such a nice feeling. I have a pretty big window, which makes this even better. My pup, Ryder, absolutely loves sunbathing. If I don’t open them, he’ll let me know by trying to do it himself. My brain sorts things with colors, and yellow is obviously a very happy color. When the sun is shining and it’s all bright and warm outside, there is no better feeling than letting a warm, yellow aura into your room to start the day.
