Sometimes it can be hard to feel your best in the go go go world we live in. Our society praises work over self care. It can be hard to strike a balance sometimes between work and finding time for ourselves. Additionally there is so much wellness information out there and it can be hard to disseminate what information is helpful and what information may not be accurate or relevant to our own lives. I am here to share all of the best tips I have gathered over the years that have helped me to try and live my happiest and healthiest lifestyle.

  1. Prioritize sleep and do not worry about waking up early like all the wellness influencers if that is not something that fits into your schedule. Sleep is truly one of the most important ways to treat our bodies right which is why we probably spend ⅓ of our life sleeping. I have found if I do not get enough sleep I will not be able to focus as much during the day. Additionally it is easy to see wellness influencers wake up at 6 am and get in their morning work out and think that is what we need to do but in reality it is better to get a full 8 hours of sleep then wake up early to fit in a workout.
  2. You do not need to eat healthy 100 percent of the time. This might sound counterintuitive but if you are stressed about eating healthy all the time it can raise your cortisol levels and cause unnecessary stress around food. I have found I eat the most balanced, healthiest, and most satisfying meals when I do not worry about what I am eating and rather eat what sounds good to me. If you listen to your body you will find that you will eat a good balance of vegetables, fruits, protein, and desserts.
  3. Take 15 minutes to do something you enjoy everyday. This idea truly changed how relaxed I am throughout the day. I chose to read for 15 to 20 minutes every morning in my bed with a cup of coffee. This starts my day off strong by doing something I enjoy and every night going to bed I have something to look forward to in the morning. It is so important to find time to do the things that you love and fulfill you.
  4. Walking counts as exercise. I used to think exercise consisted only of cardio. I came to realize that walking is a great form of exercise that releases endorphins and leaves me feeling energized and content. Walks are not only a good source of exercise but they also are a good way to get in vitamin D, have to to think to yourself, or listen to a good podcast or song.
