4 Ideas to Celebrate the Women in Your Life During Women’s History Month

They’re supportive, inspiring, and kind. The women who make the deepest impact on your life—the ones you always want in your court—deserve to know how much you appreciate them. The perfect opportunity? Women’s History Month.

Focus on the next four weeks as a chance to honor the key women in your life who more than likely share characteristics with the prominent changemakers and visionaries often celebrated this month.

Keep in mind: A simple gesture goes a long way. Your starting point? A Hallmark card. A handwritten card gives you the freedom to express thoughtful sentiments your own way—so the message you send your former soccer coach is unique from the one you give to your English professor. And definitely different from the one you send your bestie!

Need some inspo? Check out four ways to show the women in your life that you appreciate them.

1. Surprise your long-distance BFF with a video message.

She’s across the country at a different school. You miss her all the time. Why not send her something that will make her smile bigger than the memes you DM each other all day? Hallmark offers Digital Video Greetings, which allow you to add photos and videos (and choose music!) to a digital card. In the video, tell her some of the things that make her great (What do you admire about her? Why are you grateful for her friendship?).

When your bestie receives the card on their phone or in their email, they’ll be able to watch your cute video. The best part? She can save the video and share it on social, too. Instant day-maker!

2. Give out handwritten cards to your favorite professors.

The most meaningful gestures are the unexpected ones. Whether you have an established relationship with a professor or you’ve just admired them from your seat in class, giving them a handwritten card expressing your gratitude will undoubtedly be special.

Stop by a local Hallmark and pick up a few cards that have a “Thank You” sentiment—or you can opt for a blank card to personalize the message even further. When you’re writing your card, think about what makes the professor stand out in your mind. Tell them what makes their class special to you!

3. Choose four women to send a card to (one for each week of the month).

Mom. Sister. High school teacher. Tutor. Coach. Pick four women who have made an impact on your life, and use each week of the month as an opportunity to thank them. Each week, a different woman you admire will receive a handwritten card from you. Share a favorite memory, thank them for something specific they’ve taught you, or just let them know you’re thinking of and appreciate them.

4. Host a brunch with your besties.

Invite your girl squad over for a celebratory brunch! In addition to whatever goodies you’ll have prepared to eat, pick up enough blank Hallmark cards for each person attending. During brunch, set aside 15 minutes for card passing—each friend will have a designated card where everyone else will write a special message. Think: fave memories, inside jokes, words of encouragement. At the end of the card passing, everyone at brunch will have a card filled with love from close friends.
