My 20th birthday is fast-approaching. In fact, I’ll be 20 by the time this article is published (woohoo!). So, what better time to reflect on what I want my future to look like as I begin my journey into adulthood? Bucket lists normally include some adrenaline-inducing activities like skydiving or climbing Mount Everest. Don’t get me wrong, my list includes some pretty exciting events too, but nothing in comparison to jumping out of a plane. It’s pretty difficult to imagine that the period of life I’ve spent romanticizing is finally here, and I’m ready to embrace all the changes to come. Now, without further ado, let’s get into my 20s bucket list!
Go to law school
Up until a semester ago, I had no idea what I wanted to do after graduating with my undergrad degree. Granted, I still have a year to fully commit to what I want to do in my post-grad life, but quite frankly, I didn’t like not knowing what I wanted. Did I want to explore graduate school? Did I want to jump straight into working? I ultimately ended up choosing law school. My goal after graduating from Florida State University (FSU) in 2023 is to obtain my Juris Doctor degree in sport and entertainment law with the intention of representing motorsport athletes. Is this going to be a lot of work? Absolutely. But, I’m just glad to have finally found what I want to do with my career.
attend a formula 1 grand prix
I’m still pretty new to F1 after being introduced to it by my dad and brother a little over a year ago, but I’ve absolutely fallen in love with the sport. Obviously, the best seat for any sporting event is your couch, but that doesn’t mean I’m any less excited to get the chance to see a race in person. F1 tickets are outrageously expensive and nearly impossible to obtain without knowing a guy who knows a guy; don’t even get me started on the ticket prices I saw for this year’s Miami Grand Prix (I was shook). But that doesn’t mean a girl can’t dream. I’d love the chance to go with my family to the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas or even the historic Silverstone Circuit in the U.K.
swim with sharks
This bucket list item has come on and off this list multiple times. There’s just something about getting in the water with a huge fish that is so fascinating that it just keeps getting added back. Now, when I say swim, I definitely mean me treading water in a cage while the shark swims around me. I think I would lose my mind if I was swimming freely with a shark. All in all, it just seems like such a cool once-in-a-lifetime experience that I wouldn’t pass up.
revamp my entire wardrobe
Fashion icon Sharpay Evans once said, “Out with the old and in with the new,” and I couldn’t agree more. As I’ve grown up, I’ve noticed a huge change in my style, especially in the last two years. Trends come and go, but classics are forever (my mom would be proud of that statement). Something I want to do as soon as possible is upgrade my entire wardrobe. I want to be able to piece together an outfit easily, love it and be able to repeat it. My closet is in desperate need of staples and a few statement pieces, and I can’t wait to see my true style reflected in the clothes hanging in my closet once it’s had a facelift.
SPEND A MONTH (OR TWO) IN EUROPE SIGHTSEEING
Ever since I was young, I’ve wanted to go to Europe. Whenever I was asked where I wanted to go on vacation, I always chose Europe. Present me would love nothing more than to go to a nice beach resort and lay in the sand for days, but I still want to cross the continent off my bucket list. My dream vacation would start in the U.K., then make it to France, Germany, Switzerland and Spain, and then end in Italy. I want to do all the tourist stuff, yes, but I also just want to take in the scenery, enjoy learning about different cultures and eat lots and lots of great food. Out of all the wonderful things I want to accomplish on this bucket list, this is the activity I want to do most.
