Easy Ways to Make Coffee in a Dorm Room

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tampa chapter.

A lot of students use coffee to help them stay up to study or stay awake during class. As a student, I know how expensive coffee can get when buying from a shop. I have tried a few different types of at-home coffee, which are dormfriendly.

The first way to make coffee at home is using Keurig and K-cups, you can buy many different flavors and types of coffee or non-coffee drinks. One issue with them is that they can get expensive and not eco-friendly unless you buy a reusable K-cup.

The next is a good option if you enjoy iced drinks, which is buying pre-made iced coffee or cold brew from any grocery store. There are many different brands and roast levels.

With this, you can then customize flavors and additives any way you would like. This is currently what I am using until I can buy espresso beans. I use vanilla, caramel, and white chocolate flavoring along with milk to create a latte. And like I said, you can fully customize it to your liking.

The last I will talk about is a Moka Pot, also known as an Italian Coffee maker. These are traditionally used on the stovetop, but you can find electric ones. My parents just sent this to me from back home. It is super easy to use, and it makes good espresso. This makes hot espresso, so you can make hot drinks or put it in the fridge or add ice to make an iced drink. This, like the last one, you can fully customize the beverage to your liking. You can buy any espresso you like and add any flavors or kinds of milk or drink straight.
