Kanye’s Instagram: The Rapper Is Down Bad

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

Over just the past couple of days, Kanye West’s Instagram account has gained over one million new followers. His recent controversial posts have made him a topic of discussion amongst the internet, sending him trending on Twitter, Tiktok, and practically everywhere else. The posts have been so out-of-pocket that Kanye himself had to shut down rumors that the account had been hacked– despite thoughts that his recent activity simply could not have been real, alas, it is.

If you take a look at Kanye’s Instagram profile, which is under the username of @kanyewest, you might just see absolutely nothing. This is because after going on daily posting sprees, Kanye has consistently been deleting every post by morning, starting a new day off with a clean slate (Kanye, having a post up for only 24 hours is what Snapchat stories are for). His past posts, however, have not been forgotten by the internet.

The posts have made Kanye’s desire to get his family back extremely clear, obviously referencing West’s split from Kim Kardashian, as well as criticizing her new boyfriend Pete Davidson (who he has been referring to in his posts as “Skete”). Not only has Kanye posted pictures of Kim Kardashian, asking for her back in all-caps in the caption, he has also posted screenshots of their private text messages. As for Pete, there have been criticism of his outfits, past relationships, prior comedy skits, and of course, trolling of his overall character. While this tirade has left some amused, and some worried for Kanye’s mental health, it has left others calling the posts out for their abuse of Kim Kardashian.

Through it all, Kim Kardashian has stayed seemingly unbothered on her social media accounts, and was unaffected enough by Kanye’s dislike of Pete Davidson that she went out for a romantic dinner with him this past Valentine’s Day. No matter what her response is, however, Kanye needs to stop the posting– none of us like to see someone this down bad.
