Have you recently felt a little off? Emotions rising more frequently? Having trouble sleeping? Well, that makes sense seeing how we had a full moon on Wednesday, February 16th. This occurs when the Earth lands between the sun and the moon. The Moon is known as the planet which rules our emotions. This energy allows one to better connect with oneself even through the rough periods.

Whether into astrological stuff or not, we can all attest that the lunar cycle has such a powerful effect, but not only on human behavior. Most commonly known, the moon’s gravitational pull creates high and low tides. Now putting that into perspective, the moon has a very powerful control. Just like most things, they are often most powerful at their peak just like the full moon.

At this specific time, the Sun is in Aquarius exactly opposite of the moon in Leo at 27 degrees. Aquarius are more commonly inventive, revolutionary, optimistic, and clever. On the other hand, Leos are courageous, dramatic and outgoing. When these are put together we see a more stand-out, independent and powerful energy going into existence. Ultimately this allows a time to reflect on the self vs the collective. This period of time is perfect to cut toxic people out of your life.

While in this period of time you may feel big emotions. Common occurrences are feeling overwhelmed, out of place, quick to anger, vivid dreams and you might even feel your typical sleep schedule being disturbed. In contrast, this phase may also bring some clarity into your life. The full moon illuminates what has previously been in the shadows allowing a lot of a-ha moments.

This moon was specifically in Leo. Leo is associated with the 5th house of romance, self-expression and creativity. This moon comes with many benefits as well. According to one’s birth chart, this can open up a period of time where you release things that no longer serve you, manifestation levels are increased and you may even be feeling yourself a little more. For example, some signs that may feel a stronger effect from the Leo moon are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and/or Aries within your chart.

There are plenty of ways to take advantage of the full moon time, which I very much recommend! Whether you are feeling clarity from this phase or in a period of slump, journaling is a great method to exercise throughout this time. Some great journaling prompts are “In what ways do I prioritize the activities and hobbies that spark joy?”, “How do I prioritize myself while connecting to others?”, “What is this moon shedding light on in my life?” and so on. Other methods of self care that can be practiced at this time are to write yourself a love letter, move around your body and repeat self-affirmation mantras. Also, do not forget to put your crystals out!!!
