Because it’s that time of year!

There are so many love songs for me to choose from! I think an underrated one is SEVENTEEN’s “Pretty U.” I don’t normally listen to K-pop boy bands, but I heard this one as one of the mission songs on Girls Planet 999 and quite literally fell in love. It’s such a sweet song, incredibly catchy and one of the only boy band songs that I listen to on a regular basis.

Emma Belica

100% my favorite love song is “When the Day Met the Night” by Panic! at the Disco. This song tells the love story between the moon and the sun and I think it’s so beautiful. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t remind me of my boyfriend, but it is lovely regardless. I love the way the music swells towards the end of the song and it always makes me want to dance. This song just gives me endless happiness and honestly makes me appreciate the stories behind lovers a lot more.

Jess Marinaro

As a massive Taylor Swift fan, there are a lot of choices when it comes to love songs. However, her song “Daylight” is definitely one of my all time favorites. It’s such a beautiful song about how someone’s view of love can change as they mature. Every song on Lover is stunning, but “Daylight” has a special place in my heart. I love this song so much that I want it to be my first dance song at my wedding. Taylor is the queen of love songs.

Elise Miller

I might be one of the few people that overall dislike love songs. However, it wasn’t until I started dating my girlfriend that I started to like them a little more. I’d have to say one of my favorite love songs is “Like Real People Do” by Hozier, completely through her music interest. If you’re looking for a close second, I’ll always recommend “Future Days” by Pearl Jam. These songs will always trigger core memories of the early stages of our relationship, and will inevitably be playing at our wedding (TBD).

Julia Clancy

Being an avid directioner, I have quite the repertoire of love songs on my Spotify. Surprisingly, I’d have to say my favorite love song is by Mt. Joy (not 1D) and it’s called “Julia.” I hope this doesn’t come across as self-centered, but it’s just a really good and cute song that coincidentally shares my name lol. Michael, if you’re reading this, serenade me with this song and I’m yours forever.

Lauren Davies

I have so many love songs that I love, but some of them are just untouchable compared to the others. My ultimate favorite has to be Lover by Taylor Swift, but specifically the First Dance Remix of “Lover.” It is such a beautiful song in the first place, but the added wedding vibes really tug your heartstrings so much. There is such a realness to the love she is singing about in the song. Of course, every song on the album Lover depicts love in such a beautiful way, but “Lover (First Dance Remix)” will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Madison Centeno

When I realized that we were doing favorite love songs, I knew it would be so impossible to choose. I think I will never have a definitive answer that stays the same but I’ve definitely been listening to some older love songs a lot lately. Patsy Cline has really had my heart. Yes. I am talking about the 1950’s country artist. For reference I am not the biggest fan of country music but older country music is so good. I think since I have to choose I will say “A Poor Man’s Roses.” The song is just so sweet and wholesome. The idea that she chose the person who she truly loved over the person who could give her riches is so beautiful especially in the way she delivers the song. Musically and lyrically it is so poetic.

Dara Scolnick

I sometimes forget about this song but when it plays, I immediately sing it with so much passion. The song is  “Fall For You” by Secondhand Serenade. “Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you over again. Don’t make me change my mind. I won’t live to see another day, I swear it’s true. Because a girl like you is impossible to find” is just amazing but simple. It reminds me that people re-fall in love with other people all the time. It’s important to find new things to love about one another and love truly can be impossible to find sometimes. I’ve always thought if someone serenaded me with “Fall For You,” I could literally fall for them.

The thing about love songs that fascinates me the most is that it can serve as proof of whether or not you’re in love, whereas your mind unconsciously grasps the image of your lover while listening to whatever love song is playing. At the moment, the one love song that I’ve been listening to on repeat is “For Tonight” by Giveon. Not only is this song catchy, but it’s the perfect enigma of forbidden love. Another love song that never gets old is “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry. This song makes me wish I can experience this kind of love again, the kind where you feel like you’re a naive, reckless teenager again.

Olivia De Stio

When I think about love songs, the first thing that pops into my mind is the movie 10 Things I Hate About You when Patrick sings to Kat. The song Heath Ledger sings as he gets chased by the cops is “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Frankie Valli. “Trust in me when I say, Oh, Pretty baby don’t bring me down, I pray.” It is such a good song to sing for a karaoke party and to listen to on a walk. It is a perfect song to publicly show your love to someone, so it made perfect sense Patrick Verona would sing this song!
