DIY Valentine’s Day Gift Basket For Your BFF

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

Every year Valentine’s Day is heavily marketed as a romantic holiday and a time to buy expensive jewelry, flowers, and maybe even lingerie for your significant other/partner. While this may be the case for many couples and those in romantic relationships, where does that leave those who are spending the holiday alone? If you don’t have a date for Valentine’s Day it can be hard to watch so many happy couples receiving gifts while you are home alone watching a rom-com and eating a pint of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. For those of us that do have a “Valentine”, it is important to show our single friends that they are loved too. I have the perfect DIY Valentine’s Day gift basket to give your BFF or any friend that could use some extra love.

This year I made gift baskets for my roommates and I already can’t wait to give them to them! I first went to the dollar store to find my gift baskets. I ended up with a plastic pink basket that says “Hearts and Hugs”, and a similar red basket that says “Love you Always”. I then found two small teddy bears (both of which funnily enough were chocolate scented).

I grabbed one pink teddy bear and another one that was a leopard print with a red bow to match the red-themed basket. I then of course had to throw in some Valentine’s Day Haribo gummy bears. With each of these baskets, I then added some candy that was personal to my roommates. One had some Valentine’s Day Kit Kats from Target and the other had Reese’s Hearts. To top off the basket I then added in a handwritten card for each of them. I wanted to share how much I appreciate them and value our friendship to remind them how much they are loved.

If you are looking for some other ideas for a fun V-Day basket like this I would recommend any type of beauty products, fuzzy socks, nail polish, or anything self-care-related so they can treat themselves to a little self-love. Even a gift card to their favorite store or restaurant would be the perfect addition!

Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your BFF!
