With the new year comes new shows, movies, and seasons to look forward to on Netflix. To save you the time, I went through and found some of the most popular shows who have new seasons being released this year and even some shows that have top 10 potential. Get your popcorn and blankets ready, here’s when these binge-worthy shows are being released!

January

12: The second season of Cheer, the popular reality show on Navarro College’s national champion cheerleading team, is being released. The first season was released in 2020 and had everyone on the edge of their seat in the emotional rollercoaster following Navarro’s road to Daytona. As a cheerleader myself, I am excited to see what season 2 will bring, especially following the sexual misconduct charges of a key teammate.

19: Although I have never gotten into it, Too Hot To Handle is a show I consistently see on Netflix’s top 10 list. Season 3 is being released on January 19th as more singles meet in paradise and try to remain celibate for a chance at $100,000.

20: New rom com alert! The Royal Treatment is a new movie being released on Netflix on the 20th. A hairdresser played by Laura Marano takes a job at a charming prince’s wedding. Sparks fly and she has to choose between love and duty.

21: The dramatic series following a financial planners’ journey to keep his family safe after a failed money-laundering scheme, the popular show Ozark, is releasing the anticipated next season. Part 1 of season 4 will be released on the 21st and fans everywhere can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next in this fractured family’s life.

28: Hairdresser icon Jonathan Van Ness is taking center stage in his new series Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness, releasing on Netflix on the 28th. Watch along as he meets with experts from various fields to answer questions about things he’s curious about. A second new series being released on the 28th is The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window. Don’t let the long title fool you, this mystery series starring Kristen Bell follows the journey of a heartbroken woman who falls for a handsome neighbor, until she witnesses a murder.

February

4: If you haven’t watched the first season of Sweet Magnolias, stop what you are doing and binge it now. Season 2 is finally being released after the 2020 cliffhanger ending of season 1. The romantic drama and southern charm will keep you wanting more after each episode.

March

25:  Hearts were swooning very quickly after the 2020 release of season 1 of Bridgerton. Season 2 has been long awaited, especially after news that Regé-Jean Page would not be returning to play Simon. Following the book series, this season is said to tell the story of Anthony’s quest to find a suitable wife.

TBA

There are quite a few beloved shows returning for new seasons in 2022 with dates to be announced. On the list include season 5 of The Crown, season 3 of Dead to Me, season 4 of Stranger Things, and season 3 of The Umbrella Academy. Lastly, a new horror comedy is being released on Netflix. Wednesday, based around Wednesday Addams from the Addams Family, is set to be released sometime in 2022. Wednesday is being played by Jenna Ortega, who you may recognize from her part as Ellie in season 2 of You.

Netflix has quite the roster set for 2022 so far, so stock up on your favorite snacks and get ready for the binge sessions to begin!
