This past semester, Fall 2021, was easily the most stressful semester I have taken so far! I felt like I was constantly running from class to class or meeting to meeting. Life was so fast-paced and I was not able to see anyone that I loved or cared about. I realized that one of my main love languages was quality time, and by depriving myself of one of the ways I show and receive love, I am not my best self.

Quality time, at least to me, means that I am with someone and in their company. Most of the time we are talking about anything whether that be random or serious! But there are also times when we are just comfortably next to each other doing our work. Just enjoying someone’s presence is something that means the world to me.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to spend as much time with a lot of my loved ones this semester and it really took a toll on me. I quickly realized how important it was for my mental health that I spend a good amount of time with those that I love. I need to interact with people who bring me joy, to have those conversations that give me that boost of serotonin. I found such amazing people this year, and I am so happy that I got to spend those moments with them.

I learned that there is so much more to life than just studying and doing school-related activities. Take the time to go out with those that you love. Manage your time well so that you can enjoy every minute of the day. You can be an amazing student, and you can be an amazing friend. Life is beautiful. Love those moments.
