Although final exams and final projects are fastly approaching and consuming all our time, we can’t forget what time of the year it is! What better way to help calm our anxieties and look at the brighter side than listening to some Christmas music? This list will rank the top five Christmas songs from the mid 1900s to the early 2000s that you have to add to your holiday playlist (in my opinion)!

5. “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” by The Jackson 5

To start off this list is one of the many holiday hits by The Jackson 5. It is a very light-hearted beat and listening to little Michael Jackson’s voice is sure to bring some nostalgia.

4. “You’re A Mean One, Mr.Grinch” by Thurl Ravenscroft

“How The Grinch Stole Christmas” is one of the most iconic Christmas movies of all time! What makes it stand out is this classic theme song for such a beloved character. The beat and pacing of the song is so amazing and the interwoven speaking dialogue between the lyrics is just hilarious! This song is sure to bring back some childhood memories as well!

3. “Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town (Live)” by Bruce Springsteen

The live version of this song makes it so much better because you can hear the joy in Springsteen’s voice as he messes with the audience in the beginning. Of course it would not be a Springsteen song without an iconic saxophone solo that really brings it all together. This song will most certainly get you on your feet and to feel the spirit of Christmas cure your finals-induced depression!

2. “Linus and Lucy” by the Vince Guaraldi Trio

It does not feel like Christmas without watching “A Charlie Brown Christmas!” This movie and its iconic soundtrack will instantly transport you to your childhood days when your teacher turned on this movie on the last day of school before Christmas break. Even though the song has no lyrics, it is timeless because of the beautiful piano melody. And who can forget the amazing dance moves that go with it!

1. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey

Of course this song had to take the number one spot! Mariah Carey is the queen of Christmas music and it clearly shows in this song! Even though this song came out in 1994, it still tops the charts every single year. Given its popularity, it is no wonder why this song is the embodiment of Christmas! Whenever this song comes on, no matter where you are everyone will sing their heart out to every single lyric!

Have a Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
