As the holidays begin to creep up on us, prioritizing yourself and your significant other can become more of a hassle than a fun weeknight treat. I’ve come up with 10 fun and easy holiday date ideas for you and your boo to try out this season!

Christmas movie marathon

Dealing with the stress of what to get your family along with budgeting and timelines can be stressful. Decompress for a night night with a cup of hot chocolate, a cozy blanket, and a list of all the holiday movies you and your partner love.

Baking Christmas cookies

While this may seem on the nose for some, many people leave the baking to their families or friends during Christmas time. Set a day where you and your significant other can make Christmas cookies together from scratch. Add some Christmas music or a movie in the background, and voila!

Drive-thru Christmas lights

Depending on your schedule and willingness to travel, Christmas in Color allows for a fun way to enjoy the spirit of Christmas without even exiting your vehicle. Watch millions of synchronized lights tune into the specific radio channel and feel the instant nostalgia of holiday cheer with your loved one.

Sledding

Bundle up and send your partner flying as you sled your way into the New Year. On a snowy day, take your partner by surprise and relive some of your best childhood memories with an hour or so of sledding. But be sure to prepare for potential wipe-outs!

Winter market

Grab a cocoa and walk around one of the most joyful places with the one you love. No need to buy any decorations just live the holiday glory as you enjoy the smiling Santa faces and mistletoe.

Zoo lights

Spend a night looking at fun animated holiday lights with your “bae.” With 10 life-size animal-shaped lanterns, mix up your usual Christmas festivities and see a different variation of the normal red and green flashing lights. This is a great option to include other family members or younger siblings for the utmost excitement as well.

A snowball fight

While this may not be considered a date to some, having an impromptu snowball fight might be the best thing to bring you and your partner together. Get your snow gear on and show your partner who’s boss in a battle like the one in Elf.

A carriage ride

Go downtown and step into an eclectic carriage ride full of romance and holiday spirit. See downtown in a way you have never seen it before with the lovely enchantment of a horse and buggy catering to you and your partner’s needs. Take a break from social media and modern-day traditions with this old-timey holiday date.

Build a gingerbread house

Another idea that’s pretty common, but so much fun! Pick out a gingerbread house you and your partner both enjoy, add some Christmas music, and get creative. Or create a competition out of who can create the better gingerbread house! And then the winner gets an extra gift!

Write “open when…” letters

Nothing is more of a sentimental holiday date than writing your person a note for a future event in the new year. Create some prompts for you and your partner to pick out of a hat and set a date for you both to open the letters in the coming year. Get creative and be intentional with what you write, just try not to forget what you promised when the time arrives.

I'm a Junior at the University of Utah looking for journalism jobs possible to boost my resume. As I study the art of writing I am fascinated by the variety of expertise. I am fashion obsessed and would love to work within the fashion community one day. I am also the current project manager for HER Campus and love every second. As such, I hope to attend Parson's School of design and acquire a master's degree after my time here at the U. I enjoy taking writing courses, entrepreneurship courses, and ethical courses.
