Apartment in the Holiday Spirit

This year was the first that I was living on my own without my parents and so the holiday season has been a little different. Both my roommate and I are obsessed with Christmas movies, decorations, and all that comes along, so we decided to do a couple of things to make our apartment look in the spirit of the holiday season.

  1. Put up lights

Our place had been a little dark since we first moved in so with the holidays coming up we decided to put lights up all over the apartment so the place is more bright and festive. These lights really helped remind me of home since my mom and I would always put up the Christmas lights together so I really enjoyed sharing this with my roommate.

  1. Christmas tree

We both really wanted to have a Christmas tree to share since this would be our only Christmas living together. We wanted something that would brighten up the place but also not be too big. We got a mini tree that her parents had back home and decorated it with red and gold ornaments. It was fun putting them on the tree and talking with one another about our past Christmas memories.

  1. Stockings

We decided to put up a few stockings not only for ourselves but also for one of our close friends. It made the living room look cuter with them hanging under our TV!

  1. Scent

I have a scent vaporizer so we put it in the living room and added a pine scent so that despite our Christmas tree being fake, it would still smell like the real thing. This helped tie everything together and we added cinnamon so that it would give a little more Christmas to the smell. We really enjoy it and always love to go out and smell the living room now.

So that’s how my roommate and I put our apartment a little more in the holiday spirit. Sadly it is our last and only Christmas together since we’ll be going to different schools but I’m glad I got to create the memory.
