Trader Joe’s Has Skincare Products?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

Earlier this month, as I was perusing the aisles of the greatest grocery store on Earth – Trader Joe’s – I was stopped dead in my tracks when I saw on the seasonal items rack, a little jar called, “Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Overnight Face Mask.” Needless to say, I’m not sure I’ve ever put something in my cart as quickly as I did just then. I mean, I knew that TJ’s had shifted into all kinds of departments (even their own laundry detergent!), but I had no clue that they made beauty products!

The mask comes in a glass-like container with a seasonally-correct orange lid. It comes with 2 oz. of mask and the price is unbeatable at under $7. I think the price is what strikes me the most about this product, because I often only find overnight masks in the $20 and upwards range.

I have been applying the mask 3-4 times a week before I go to bed for about a month now, and the container is still ¾ full. You are definitely getting the bang for your buck with this product. The directions are very clear, apply an even coat to the skin, wait a couple minutes for it to absorb, go to bed, and wash off in the morning. I love skincare but I also love products that are low-maintenance, so this is truly the perfect mask for me. It consists of pumpkin fruit extract, papaya enzymes, and plant-derived squalane. I have very sensitive skin and the only other mask that I used religiously was Glossier’s “Mega Greens” detoxifying face mask, but the price for that is $22 for 3 oz, so the TJ’s mask is much more affordable per fl oz. That being said, what matters most is what you want to be able to get from using the mask. One common factor with overnight masks is that I wake up with my skin feeling super greasy, this NEVER happens with the pumpkin mask. It absorbs super quickly after application and then I don’t even remember it’s there until I wash my face the next morning and my skin looks just a little brighter and more refreshed than before. It is by no means a miracle product, but simply applying it before I go to bed is the ideal low-maintenance self-care that I so often need throughout the hectic school year.

I’m not sure how much longer TJ’s will be selling the pumpkin mask this season, but this weekend I plan to run to my local store and stock up for the rest of the year – if there’s any left! I would definitely be excited to try any more masks that are from the Trader Joe’s brand!
