Thankful For Our Fellow Her Campus Chapters: Kaylie From HC Lasell

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

This week, HC UPR has decided to take on the challenge of interconnecting and collaborating with the Lasell Chapter to talk about our experiences in different chapters. Meeting someone is always so nerve-racking but the interaction between Lasell’s very own Kaylie Silva and myself was so natural and smooth… The outcome of our conversation made it feel like we had known each other for years!

Throughout our conversation together, Kaylie and I realized that we had more in common than we had originally thought. Bonded by our Zodiac signs and our hobbies, meeting Kaylie allowed me to reflect on our different journeys. Here are some of the questions I asked to get to know Kaylie!:

What’s Your Zodiac Sign?

Kaylie and I first bonded over this (very important) question because, as it shows, both of us are Geminis! It’s always good to have an icebreaker question, and her answer completely set the mood for the rest of the exchange. Fun fact: I was born on the first day of Gemini Season while Kaylie was born on the last day!

What influenced you to join HC?

Kaylie went on to explain that she had been aware of HC for a while because of her roommate, but it wasn’t until this semester that she decided that she would join Lasell’s HC Chapter. We bonded on how HC is such an amazing outlet to rant about the things prickling at your mind. Kaylie loves to write about skincare and beauty tips that she follows to help those who read her articles.

What’s your favorite thing about HC since joining?

Having the opportunity to meet fellow chapter members and being able to share a sense of community with them is Kaylie’s favorite part of being a part of HC Lasell. We talked about how, especially during a pandemic, meeting new people while having healthy creative outlets to channel our emotions allows us to feel a sense of “normalcy” in a world where what was once deemed as “normal” has changed completely.

What are you thankful for, regarding HC?

Both Kaylie and I bonded over the fact that we are thankful that HC allows us to not only meet fellow chapter members, but it allows us to step out of the box and meet people from different university chapters. Stepping out of our comfort zones and joining our respective chapters has provided us with some much-appreciated insight and a clearer view of our future endeavors.

Meeting Kaylie was such an eye-opening experienceーlearning about other Lasell students’ experiences, not only in the HC community but in general. Living on an island as small as Puerto Rico, it’s hard to step out of that mindset and put yourself into someone else’s shoes. Exploring Kaylie’s university experience and going back and forth on topics such as spirituality, 5-year plans, HC, and our day-to-day lives felt refreshing and heartwarming. The answers I have shared with you thus far are only but a fraction of the bonding Kaylie and I did together. After getting to know each other, I’m eager to watch my Gemini Sister’s future unfold.
