Even with the very best of families, one thing is certain – we all need a bit of a buzz to get through that 4 p.m. Thanksgiving dinner. While a nice wine on the side of your meal is enough for some, you already know I’m extra enough to create an entire specialty drink menu for my family gathering! Here are the six holiday cocktails featured at my Thanksgiving dinner!

  1. Apple Cider Mimosas

Apple Cider Mimosas put a holiday spin on a brunch classic! These mimosas taste like sparkling apple juice and make for a lovely citrus addition to the pre-Thanksgiving breakfast burritos. This simple recipe just asks for one part champagne and one part apple cider. Pour and enjoy!

  1. Spiced Cranberry Hot Toddy

Try this holiday warm classic! A Spiced Cranberry Hot Toddy is the perfect way to warm up by the fire or complete some comfy puzzles. If your grandmother asks, you’re just sipping tea. While it might take a bit longer to mix up this brew, it is well worth it. Try this recipe if you are craving some citrus and spice scents and flavors! This recipe calls for:

  • 2 cups cranberry juice
  • ½ an orange
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 inch fresh ginger
  • ½ tsp black peppercorn
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • 2 star anise
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3-4 oz bourbon
  1. Pomegranate Smash

Pomegranate juice is a totally underrated juice, so here’s a holiday cocktail dedicated to it. This Pomegranate Smash is easy to make and filled with antioxidants. Simply use juice, ginger beer, and vodka for this yummy splash of holiday flavor!

  1. Pumpkin Spice White Russian

Mourning the loss of the coveted Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew? Try a Pumpkin Spice White Russian this Thanksgiving! I’m not usually a fan of milky-based beverages, but this one is too good to resist! This recipe calls for:

  • Vodka
  • Pumpkin Spice Creamer
  • Coffee Liqueur
  • Whipped Cream
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice
  1. Chai Tea with Bourbon

For those looking for a more fall flavored beverage, try sipping on a Chai Tea with Bourbon! You can make your own chai from scratch or heat up your favorite store bought (our favorite is local Boulder Brew, Bhakti Chai), and spike it with a splash of bourbon for a little holiday buzz.

  1. Spiced Citrus Mulled Wine

Mulled wine is a holiday classic, but this Spiced Citrus Mulled Wine takes the staple to the next level! This drink is so beautiful it could be used as a centerpiece, and smells so nice it is certain to add to your Thanksgiving spread. Something about stirring wine with a wooden spoon just feels right.

Remember to drink responsibly and legally this holiday season. Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate, and be sure to try these fall drinks even if you don’t!
