It has been almost impossible to miss the most recent news: Travis Scott’s disaster of a concert. At a Houston Texas Music Festival in 2021, people at the concert were being crushed and trampled on as people pushed towards the stage. Even those who weren’t on the floor, it was hard for them to breathe because everyone was so squished together. People were passing out because of the super close proximity; they were literally being crushed. There were 50,000 people at this concert, so with the surge crowd, people were getting trampled and suffocated. Some claim that people were leaving the concert with blue lips because they could not breathe in the crowd.
During this concert, people chanted, “Stop the show.” On TikTok, there are tons of videos from the concert of this happening and nothing was done. There was a part during the concert where Scott stopped the show because he saw an ambulance. He responded with pointing at the ambulance and saying, “What the fuck is that.” Some people from the concert say that it is impossible that he did not see or hear everyone screaming for help. They say that with everyone being pushed and all of the passing out, it was impossible that he could have missed this.
During this concert, eight people died and about three hundred were left injured. The eight people were identified as John Hilgert, 14; Brianna Rodriguez, 16; Jacob Jurinek, 20; Axel Acosta Avila, 21; Franco Patino, 21; Madison Dubiski, 23; Rodolfo Peña, 23; and Danish Baig, 27.
Parents were holding their children above their heads to keep them safe. One nine-year-old boy, Ezra Blount, was being held above his fathers head, however, his father passed out and his son fell and was trampled. He has major organ damage and is in a coma; this is only one of the stories from this festival in 2021.
Kylie Jenner came out and stated that both her and Travis Scott had no idea what was happening. She claimed, “I want to make it clear we weren’t aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing.”
At least twelve lawsuits have been filed against Scott and Live Nation so far. Since 2006, Live Nation has been connected to about 200 deaths and 750 injuries. Travis Scott has offered to pay for the eight funerals from this festival. He also announced that he would be pairing with BetterHelp to provide free therapy for anyone impacted by this tragedy.
In addition to the suffocation and people being trampled, a security officer was injected with drugs at this concert. He said he was pricked in the neck when trying to grab someone at the concert and the next moment, he was passed out on the floor. An anonymous source also said that there were drugs being sold illegally by concertgoers. They said, “They were selling illegal substances and nobody knew what they contained. Pills more than anything.” Day two of this music festival was cancelled so they can get to the bottom of this horrible situation.
