Every time we wake up in the morning, we are given another beautiful day to live. Each day, we are given another opportunity to live our life to the fullest and experience the wonderful things life has to offer. Sometimes, though, we forget to practice gratitude towards the time we are granted. Being appreciative helps people feel more positive and there are so many pros to practicing gratitude. When you are grateful for the things in your life, you are able to build strong relationships, improve your mental health, and create good experiences. Stop and think for a moment about what you are grateful for, even the little things.

For me, I am grateful to have the opportunity to go to college. I’m not going to lie, some days I complain. School can be stressful and overwhelming at times, but at the end of the day, I am grateful to live in a country that allows me to receive an education or have enough income to attend a big university. I am grateful for my mother who put all of her time and effort into raising three children: my brother, sister, and me.

Sometimes, we don’t take the time to practice gratitude throughout our day, but when you do, you will have a more positive outlook on life. When you stop worrying about the things that don’t matter and start to be grateful for what you do have, your life can really take a turn.

Thank your teachers who take the time out of their day to help you succeed. Thank your parents for the privileges they’ve given you. Thank God for letting you watch the sun rise and see another great day.

Here are some ways to start practicing gratitude:

1. Keep a gratitude journal

2. Tell someone how much they mean to you

3. Call your parents more often

4. Focus on the good, reflect from the bad

5. Take in the fresh air and live in the moment

You never know when your last day on Earth is. Focus on the good and practice gratitude every day.
