How am I able to add in time to work out if I’m too busy?!

When I first got hired for being a lifeguard, I thought I’d still have to find some time to work out, but including my swimming practices, academics, and church life, girl was I wrong. Just trying to squeeze in when I could make it to the gym made me have to rearrange my alarm clock so many times.

The method I try is waking up early to work out, but it is a hit or miss depending on how much sleep I get. I tried waking up at 5:00 am, but I would keep pressing snooze or change my alarm back to 7:30 the night before, so I would get enough sleep. The key to this problem is you have to find the right time to wake up and also get enough sleep. While continuing to explore with my alarm clock, the best time for me to wake up is 6:00 am and head to the gym at 6:30 am on the weekdays. On the weekends, however, I tend to hit the gym after I work. Usually, on Saturdays, I work about 5 hours in the morning, and Sundays I go after in the afternoon.

There has to be more than just waking up early right? Well, correct. An important role in getting up early is having motivation and goals. For example: “Why am I working out?” An object can be a motivation for us to work out. For example, I bought a water bottle and put stickers on it to remind me to work out. Our goals have to be realistic and not too dangerous for our bodies. Another thing to keep in mind is to always have water and to eat healthy before and after our workout. Having the right attire while working out is effective as well. A pair of athletic leggings or shorts and an athletic tank top or shirt are a must! Don’t forget tennis shoes! Headphones/earbuds are a major motivational object to have so you can listen to music while working out!

Another motivation some people can try is having a gym partner and or finding a fitness coach to help them if you’re a beginner, but it is understandable if you want to work out alone. For some equipment, you most likely will need a spotter (someone who makes sure the weights do not fall on you and you hurt yourself.) But for cardio, you most likely don’t need any extra assistance.
